Darling Girl Cosmetics Swatches and Review

I've had my Darling Girl order for awhile but I'm just now posting the review because Susan reopened the store yesterday.  I didn't want to tease you guys by posting about things you couldn't currently buy.  And believe me, you will want to buy them!

This is going to be another overly gushing review of an indie makeup company.  I LOVE Darling Girl and can't wait to place another order. The prices are great, the quality is amazing, the owner, Susan, is extremely nice and helpful, and the store in general seems different and unique from other companies.  They are also constantly adding new and different products.

Everything was packaged super cute.  The pink bag is the So Sakura gift set with a Petit (what they call their mini size) eyeshadow and a mini lipgloss.  The box has 5 samples that were from a blogger's sample pack for review.  The yellow wrapped tissue paper has a mini lip gloss and two Petit eyeshadows.  The two samples in the front were freebies.

The whole order laid out.  The top row had 3 Petit eyeshadows and two mini lip glosses (or Liquid Kisses).  The middle row is eyeshadow sample bags and the bottom row has a tinted lip balm sample and two blush samples.

The bottom labels of the Petit eyeshadows.  Ingredients aren't listed on the jars, which may bother some people, but they are listed on the shop's website.

Each jar has a sticker over the sifter.  I like how it has a pull tab.  It makes the sticker way easier to get off.

Here are the eyeshadows.  As I usually do they first row is patted on dry while the bottom row is over Pixie Epoxy.

The eyeshadows I have may not be the boldest, brightest colors, but they are very unique and gorgeous.  They are also very shimmery.  Just look at this next picture to see how much.

The eyeshadows are smooth and pigmented and not powdery.  I had no issues with fallout, even when not using a sticky base.

These are blushes.  The swatches for each color on the left are straight out of the bag while the right swatches are blended out.  I love how the sparkle doesn't disappear when you sheer them out. And I love the two different finishes.  The pink one has a pretty gold sparkle while the orange has a blue/violet duochrome sheen.  These are probably my favorite indie blushes I have tried so far.

From left- Shy Girl Kiss Me Tinted Lip Balm, So Sakura Liquid Kiss, and Hot Mama Liquid Kiss
Shy Girl is extremely pigmented for a tinted lip balm.  I can't wait to buy it in a full size.  It feels like an extremely moisturizing lipstick.  The Liquid Kisses are wonderful, too.  They aren't thick or sticky at all.  They are a bit on the medium-sheer side with one swipe, but they build up in pigmentation extremely well. These also feel smooth and moisturizing with not completely long lasting.  I think So Sakura lasts about and hour and a half to 2 hours on me, which isn't too bad for a non-sticky gloss.

Sorry if this one looks a tad patchy.  Blame it on user error because I just used my finger to apply it out of the sample baggie.  I really need to buy a lip brush...

I'm sorry, I'm getting behind on my schoolwork so I don't have time to list the prices for each individual item for you.  Everything is extremely well priced, you won't be disappointed.

Darling Girl's website is here.

I really like the website once I figured out to click the "Categories" tab in the top right.  I much prefer the website to either Etsy or Artfire because the categories make it really easy to navigate.

I HIGHLY recommend you shop with Darling Girl Cosmetics, you won't regret it.

Thank you for reading and have a great day/night/whatever!

  1. I'm so glad you got Fantasia, I think everyone should have it! It's so pretty. I really love Darling Girls blushes, they're some of my favourite blushers ever, not just indie. So Sakura looks great on you.

  2. The eye shadows look cool, but I am super psyched about the lip stuff and blushes. Those are awesome, esp love SO Sakura liquid Kiss!! They look great on you.

  3. WOW! These look amazing! I wish I wore blush, because those are really unique blushes from what I've ever seen! Sometimes subtle eyeshadow is what you want :)

  4. Ooh yay! I can't wait to receive my order. I've been checking the mail every day the last couple of weeks in anticipation, haha. My Little Pony is gorgeous!

  5. So Sakura lip gloss really does match it's name, and it looks really really nice on you. I'm convinced to get it although I don't really need the eyeshadow. Great thanks for the review and photos..really helpful for my first order.

  6. Ahhh the lip shades are just gorgeous!

  7. Lovely reveiw! DG never really caught my attention too much before......the stuff you show here looks fabulous! I love Everything's Rosy blush, all of the lip colours, and my favourite eye shadows are Blackcurrant and Sparklers at Dusk. The eyeshadows look freakin' awesome over PE! I really need to get some!

  8. @ Robyn- Fantasia is awesome. I only have the sample of it but will be buying a larger size soon.

@ Maribeth- I love her lip products a lot. I can't wait to try some more.

@RoboZelda- Th eyeshadows I have are subtle in color, but not in sparkle! Plus, it's never too late to start wearing blush. I never used to wear it either, but now I'm obsessed.

@Steph- Ooo, I'm curious to see what you got! I'm sure you'll post about it so we can see. :)

@Glaciajo- You probably could ask Susan and she might be able to list it separately for you. It never hurts to ask and she is super nice. I hope you love everything!

@Lillian- You should get some if you have the chance! i say this selfishly just because I want to see your lip swatches, haha. :)

  9. @Vulcan_Butterfly- Yeah, it was the same way for me. But I'm so glad I finally ordered because I'm obsessed now. You could start with ordering the sample back for bloggers just to try some things. Oh, and I've heard a few people say that Darling Girl's Glitter Glue is just as good if not better than Pixie Epoxy. I really want to pick up a tube because I'm running low on PE!

  10. The shadows are gorgeous and you are so right, not the brightest, but definitely unique. Btw, I just wanted to let you know I awarded you with the Liebster Award over on my blog. :)

Thank you so much for your comments! I appreciate them all and read every one!
