These $0.69 Wet n Wild Lipsticks Just May Convert Me

As you may know, I'm not much of a lipstick wearer.  Besides my MAC Viva Glam Cyndi lipstick, the most expensive lipstick I have ever bought is probably $3.  So I'm not the best judge of what makes a good lipstick.  However, I have been slathering stuff on my lips for many years now, so I do know what feels good.  And in my limited lipstick experience, these Wet n Wild Silk Finish lipsticks feel pretty durn good.  Did I mention that I bought these for 69 CENTS EACH?!  Through the end of May I believe Wet n Wild is having a display at Walgreens with nail polish, lipsticks, eye liners, and lip liners for 69 cents each.  These normally retail for only 99 cents, but still, 69 cents is quite a steal!

The colors I have bought so far are (The description/name part after the numbers is off of Wet n Wild's website.  I'm not sure if they are the names of the lipsticks or just a shade description.  The second description is my own) :
  • 502A Dark Pink Frost- a light mauvey pink with gold shimmer that is not what I consider frosty
  • 514A Cherry Frost- a bright cool toned red with gold and red shimmer that is also not a frost!
  • 521A Fuchsia with Blue Pearl- actually the name is a pretty accurate description
These applied smooth with no streaking and didn't gather in my lip lines.  These aren't the longest lasting lipsticks, but for 69 cents I don't mine reapplying.  I usually like to reapply if I need it or not anyway, just because I like the way it feels!

Pros:
  • Very, very inexpensive
  • Wide range of colors (22 listed on Wet n Wild's website)
  • Great pigmentation
  • Smooth, creamy texture
  • A great way to experiment with which types of colors look best on you
Cons:
  • Not the longest lasting (but they don't claim to be)

Available:
  • Retails for $0.99 at drugstores and all places Wet n Wild is sold (currently on sale for 69 cents at Walgreens until the end of May 2011)

Thank you for reading and have a great day/night/whatever!

  1. Very nice. Thanks for the swatches! I noticed this myself a bit ago, with 911D (a ruby woo (mac) dupe I did a review a bit ago you can see it here : http://mrskittykaboom.blogspot.com/2011/02/mini-review-wetnwild-stoplight-red.html) Wet n wild I think is definitely coming up in their quality which is so nice because they are so affordable + very easily accessible (no trips to specialty stores or the dreaded mall for me! yay!)

  2. I love 911! I love that it is matte too, it really makes it more wearable for me. I'm not really used to wearing lipsticks and Wet n Wild is the prefect place for me to start. It doesn't hurt they they're awesome too!

  5. I'm just cheap with my lipsticks too, so I shop the sales or just head over to the Dollar Tree or Big Lots. Since you're on a low buy, when you feel like you need a pick me up and want to get a little something nice, you should try those two if there isn't a decent sale on...especially for cheap lipstick! (If you're in New England I recommend Ocean State Job Lot too. It's similar to Big Lots.)

  6. Oh yeah, I meant to say that you have the cutest pouty Betty Boop lips. I read the other post where you said your boyfriend didn't like red on you, but it looks like Betty Boop! Adorable!
