Hello

Hey guys. Sorry to leave you hanging with that non-post of a thing a few weeks ago. I just wanted to thank every one of you who commented and reached out to me in any way. It really helped me to know that people I may not know personally still care that much about me. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. You guys, I feel all of you are my friends, are really why I loved blogging so much. I'm sorry for leaving with no explanation but to type it out would have made it real and I wanted to keep refusing to believe it. But, I have to accept it now and move on.  As some of you may know I was with the same guy for nearly 9 years, since we were both 16. So all of my adult life and the latter part of my childhood.  I was blindsided by the "I don't feel the same way about you as I used to" speech and the "I love you, but I'm not in love with you" one as well. I was/am devastated. I was in a really bad place when we first got together as teenagers and I literally credit him with saving my life. I was on that bad of a downward spiral. I know it wasn't the best thing to do, but I built my life, my sanity, my reason for continuing to live around him. It was simply the only choice I had at the time. It has only been in the last year or two I've felt that I've really began to grow as my own person. But I still was (and am) madly in love with this man, who I consider to be the best person I have ever met. He feels horrible about hurting me. No, there wasn't anyone else for him, he cares about me and respects me too much to do that to me. And that is what makes this even more devastating to me- how awesome of a person he is. Also, I'm losing my best friend. The person with whom I would have stupid little nonsense conversations and we knew exactly what each other meant. The person who nursed me back to health so selflessly after a life-threatening illness and subsequent surgery. The person who paid for me to go to school AND my hospitals bills, and who is continuing to pay for my car and hospital bills because it "wouldn't be right to stop". I can't even express my sense of loss. My soul is shattered, but I have no choice but to keep on going. I'm not sure what is going to happen in the says ahead and I dread them. My whole life was overturned. I had to quit school for the time being and going back is starting to look iffy as I probably won't be able to get financial aid (another long story). I had to move away from my home, leave friends, and worst of all, 2 of our dogs. I got to keep one, but leaving the other 2 was horrible. I'm back living with my parents. Here I am almost 25 (on Friday) and I go from being an adult living with my significant other to being a kid again. Do you know how fucking weird it is from going from just running to Walgreens when you need to tampons to having to ask your mom to buy them for you?

So that is my overly long explanation. I thought you guys deserved it. As far as blogging goes... I don't know. I haven't worn makeup in weeks and I'm not sure if my love for it will survive. I certainly won't be able to afford to buy any for a long time. I didn't work because I was trying to finish school, but he (it's so hard to say my ex) always called the money he made "our" money. But of course it's not like that any more at my parents'. Anyway, I'm going off track again, I'm not sure I will be able to come back to blogging. Currently all my makeup and nail polish is 5 hours away at HIS place (not ours anymore). I need to go back and get my things but I just can't stomach going back there right now. I hope I do feel like blogging again some time, because I really miss all of you guys. Thank you again for all the amazing support and love. You guys helped make a time where I wasn't so sure I had the will to continue a little easier to bear. Things still aren't good by any means, but I no longer feel that I'm... going to do something that would not be good.

I'll be okay, because I've decided there is absolutely no other choice.

I'm sorry.

I... my life has been upturned and the foundation and beliefs I built my life on have been completely destroyed. I'm leaving this message here as a courtesy to those of you I have come to care about and who have come to care about me. Thank you guys for everything.I appreciate all the support from everyone and I'll miss you.

Benefit Creaseless Creams in Sippin n Dippin and My Dates My Brother

My love of cream shadows isn't exactly a secret. So when I found some discontinued Benefit Creaseless Cream eyeshadows on eBay for a good price, I had to buy them. I paid $11 each (they retail for $19) from this seller on eBay (and here are the listings for these shadows). I got my order quickly and it was packaged well.  They won me over when I opened the box and found each cream shadow wrapped in duochrome purple/green wrapping paper.

Look how cool-

I'm really happy with these. Sippin' n Dippin' is absolutely gorgeous and has that creamy smooth texture that makes the Creaseless Creams awesome. My Date's My Brother was a little drier in texture, but it still is really great.

The Miracle of Magnetic Nail Polish, How Does It Work?

First of all, if you get the reference in the title, props to ya. I'm not one to throw around memes lightly. If you don't get it, here ya go. You probably still won't get it, but that is the glory of memes.

Ahh, fucking magnets. While I don't think we will ever know how they work (if you really want to know, read a little further into the post), they do make for a pretty cool effect on nail polish. I've been wanting some magnetic nail polish pretty much since my nail polish obsession began almost 3 years ago. Luckily more and more polish companies are starting to release them. While they're still pretty expensive (The cheapest I've seen is about $15), I think they're worth. I picked 2 up from the brand Layla ("You got me on my knees...") on Ebay and love them to pieces. I know people have complained that it can be difficult to get the pattern the same on each nail, but I didn't have too much problem with it and I'm incredibly clumsy. The magnets on the Layla bottles have a line on them so you can see exactly which way the pattern will face.

The formula is pretty thick, but still flows well. You might get away with just one coat, but I did two. I first painted all of my nails. Then I went back, painted a nail and immediately after put the magnet up to it. At first I didn't think I liked the effect and felt a little "that's it?" after my three years of anticipation, but it grew on me. I want ALL THE COLORS now.

So, how it actually works. There are tiny metal pieces in the polish (they don't affect the texture of the polish. It mostly feel like a "regular" nail polish). The lid of the polish has a magnet in it with a design and when you place the magnet over the wet (It has to be wet! It's better to do one nail at a time) polish as close as you can without touching the nail, the magnet pulls the metal particles in the polishes together recreating the design. The lighter parts in the pictures below are where the metal particles concentrated due to the magnet.

  • Just search on Google and you can find these polishes from several places. I bought mine for $15.50 on eBay from here, because they had free shipping. I received my order quickly and it was packaged well.

Estee Lauder LIpgloss in Fuchsia Fantasy and Lipstick in Rubellite

Sorry, this is a bit of a lazy post! I'm running on the dredges of my photos I have in my "to post" folder and I really need to swatch some more things including the new Wet n Wild palettes and several indie makeup orders that are still in their packaging I received months ago. The bad thing about being a blogger is that you can't use anything until you've taken pictures of it, and I'm extremely lazy about taking pictures. Actually, I'm just lazy in general. Haha, it's not so nice of a feeling to realize that about yourself! But oh well, I'm too lazy to change! :D

I recieved (amongst other things I pawned off on my mom) a lipstick and lipgloss in an Estee Lauder gift with purchase thingy. I never posted about them because they were a GWP and I wasn't sure if they were available in the normal Estee Lauder line. I'm pretty sure the lipgloss is though. And you can find people selling these on eBay for like $5 each. Which I think isn't bad as I think the formulas are really nice on both the lipstick and the gloss.

FOTD: Binging on Purple Poppies

Ugh, I'm terrible with naming things! One time I had a Siberian Dwarf Hamster named Leonard Nimoy, but that's only because my boyfriend named him. So, when all else fails for FOTD post names, I just do a play on the names of the products I used. Urban Decay eyeliner in Binge and Kiss My Sass eyeshadow in Purple Poppy makes "Binging on Purple Poppies"! I used several eyeshadows, so I could have easily went with "Blizzard on a Victorian Night", but I'm a sucker for alliteration. My angst-y teenage poetry was pure alliteration.  It was terrible (Here is a sample I remember- "Shadows slide and slither across a dust-laden shrine.."), but with alliteration you can fool people into thinking you know what you're doing. Isn't that how to get ahead in life? Not actually being competent, but just fooling people into believing you are? Politicians build their whole lives around it! But, I digress. I'm not sure how I went from poppies to politicians (alliteration!) but I sure can ramble can't I? Ramble on! (Anything for a Led Zep reference!)

Eyes:

  • Evil Shades eyeshadow in Victorian Nights on inner third of lid
  • Detrivore eyeshadow in Saprophyte on out third of lid
  • Kiss My Sass eyeshadow in Purple Poppies in crease and below lower lash line
  • Detrivore eyeshadow in Blzzard to highlight and in inner corners of eyes
  • Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Binge on water line and upper lash line
  • A mix of CoverGirl Lashblast mascara and Wet n Wild MegaLash Clinical Mascara on lashes
  • Physician's Formula Canyon Classic quad matte eyeshadow in brows (darkest shade)
Face:
  • Physician's Formula CircleRx concealer in Fair Light under eyes
  • CoverGirl Simply Ageless Eye Concealer in 205 also under eyes
  • Physician's Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation in Translucent Light
Cheeks
  • Detrivore blush in Concubine
Lips
  • NYX Round lipstick in Spellbound
  • Darling Girl lipgloss in So Sakura

Wet n Wild Limited Edition ColorIcon Ice Baby Nail Color Collection Swatches

I was so excited to find these nail polishes along with the baked palettes and the matte palette at my local Walgreens. The drug stores near me NEVER carry any limited edition collections. Instead they have ugly gift sets of cheap cologne and rock hard eyeshadow palettes. The display was missing two of the colors, 24 Carats and Give Me A Price, but I'll post pictures of those as soon as I can get my greedy little hands on them. I absolutely love these glitters! Apparently a few of them are dead on dupes of some Nails Inc polishes (see Scrangie's comparison here) and a few look like the limited edition mini set of Deborah Lippmann polishes from Nordstrom (see swatches here). Of course I prefer Wet n Wild's because they're cheaper!

I used three coats to get full coverage with all 6 polishes. Some you could probably get away with using 2 coats. The formula wasn't terrible for being opaque glitter polishes in a clear base, but some thinner might help the thickness a bit. And these do dry very... textured. You will need a few coats of top coat to get that glass-like finish I'm obsessed with. Some thicker glitters don't layer well, but I found that one coat looks amazing over black. I'll show the layered swatches at the end. Also, those are the only ones with top coat. All others are left in their natural, gritty glory.

Sorry for the bad clean up on my nails. That's what i get for doing swatches while sick.

Maybelline Limited Edition Blushes in Stage Glow, Pressworthy Pink and Ravishing Rouge Swatches

I'm such a great blogger. *sarcasm* Yeah, I'm really behind in swatching things. I shouldn't be allowed to buy limited edition items as I never post about them while they're still available! But  I have heard about a few people finding these blushes on clearance at Walgreens, so it might be worth checking out there.

From left- Pressworthy Pink, Ravishing Rouge, Stage Glow
The bad thing about these being limited edition is that they're actually pretty nice.  They're basically 2 blushes and a highlighter. The highlighter (Stage Glow) is pretty sheer and sparkly with larger pieces of sparkle throughout. It is a tad TOO sparkly for my tastes, as I prefer a sheen on my cheeks, not straight out shimmer. The pink blush (Pressworthy Pink) is also pretty sparkly, but I can buff the sparkles out enough to where I'm happy with it. The color is bright, happy pink that you can build up to the intensity you desire. The red blush (Ravishing Rouge) is extremely intense. It doesn't have as much sparkle, but the pigmentation is INTENSE. If I wear this one I need to apply it with duo-fiber stippling brush. All of these were silky smooth, and non chalky with great pigmentation. I was really impressed with the quality of these blushes. None of the shade stole my heart, though. I would have liked to see a peachier, or more color blush, too.

I found these in a display at my local drugstore awhile ago and don't remember how much they cost because they were on sale for 40% off that week. Haha, I'm just about worthless! I wasn't going to post this as these probably are no longer available and I'm completely unhelpful, but figured it might help someone out there, so I might as well!

    EOTD: Match Your Eye Color!

Sorry for two EOTD posts in a row, but I did this one yesterday for a Facebook group I'm in and love how it came out. We were supposed to do a look based on out eye color. I'm still sick so I didn't do a whole face look, but I do plan on recreating what I did sometime. I have faded-green eyes with a yellowish-gold ring around the pupil, so  I used those colors in the eyeshadow.

    Everything I used-
    • Benefit Creaseless Cream eyeshadow in Taupe-aztic
    • Estee Lauder ShadowCreme in Precious Jade
    • Wet n Wild Cream Shadow Pencil in Envy
    • MAC Crushed Metallic Pigments in Surf the Ocean (gold color)
    • elf Mineral Eyeshadow in Outdoorsy
    • elf Mineral Eyeshadow in Earthy
    • Urban Decay eyeshadow in Darkhorse
    • Essence eyeshadow in White Hype
    • Physician's Formula Gel CreamLiner for Green Eyes (black)
    • Urban Decay eyeliner in Perversion
I started with a base of the cream shadows- Taupe-aztic on the lid, Precious Jade in the crease and above as well as below the lower lash line, and Envy just in the crease. I then covered everywhere I was placing color with Pixie Epoxy. I put the gold shadow on the lid, inner corner, and inner third of lower lash line. Then I put Outdoorsy in and slightly above the crease and used Earthy above Outdoorsy to blend it out. I used Darkhorse to darken the crease and used it over Precious Jade below my lower lash line.  I highlighted my brow bone with White Hype. Last, I used Perversion on my upper and lower waterlines and the black gel liner above my up upper lash line.
