FOTD- Intrepid Old Gold

Ugh, so tired! Of course it's my own fault... if I could go to sleep at a decent hour I wouldn't be so exhausted. But my body seems to insist that days are 28 hours long instead of 24, so each night I want to stay up later and sleep later the next day. It doesn't hurt that I had like the worst Monday ever. I would say that two of the things people hate most is going to the dentist and going to a car dealership. Monday I did both. I woke up at the ass crack of early (aka 9 am, but early if you went to bed at 5 am) to go to the dentist. I got two fillings and two crowns. Cost me $1400 WITH insurance and I still need a crap ton of dental work to go. And apparently I got too much of the numbing crap so until 7pm that night it looked like I had a stroke because the left side of my face would not move. Which made for much merriment for my brother, whom I had to take to the car dealership to buy his first car. So not even a car for me. By this time I was nauseous from the numbing crap, having had 4 hours of sleep, and not having ate that day yet. And this whole time half my face was frozen like a victim of botched plastic surgery. We were at the dealership for 6 hours. I finally got home from the day from hell and fell asleep at the ridiculously early hour of 11:30 pm (I'm not being sarcastic. That is early for me).

So, this story has nothing to do with the makeup I'm going to show you, since I wore it last week, but I just wanted everyone to commiserate with me on my horrible day, haha.

My hair looks weird because it was wet!

I'm glad my facial paralysis was only temporary. Or I'd have to wear one of those half masks like the Phantom of the Opera guy.

FOTD- Poisoned Purple Orchids

I looooove purple eyeshadow. I like the way it looks with my green eyes and I just like it period. I have to force myself to wear other colors but purple. And now that I think about it I have more purple nail polishes than any other color as well, although I would probably say overall my favorite color is green. Anyway, I love purple eyeshadow and my favorite purple eyeshadow of them all is Two Faced Poison Orchid (see my blog post here). As I mention in my review I never buy single eyeshadows. And if I do I don't like to spend over around $8. Although this one costs $18, it was so worth it. What color of eyeshadow do you find yourself gravitating to?

This is Poison Orchid on the lid and lower lashline, Urban Decay Fishnet in the crease, and Essence holographic eyeshadow in Mystic Purple to highlight. On my lips is L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse lipstick in Velvety Fuchsia.

This was way more sparkly in real life, but the flash only bounced off the sparkles on the from of my lid. Dumb flash. Look at the swatch picture here to get an idea of how sparkly it really is (I used a sticky base).

FOTD- Miles To Go Before I Sleep

Hey guys! I finally prettied up my blog a little! It had the same boring, ugly look since I first started blogging over a year ago. I know it is still amateur-ish looking, but I don't mind since I'm not trying to be professional here. I made my banner in a Paint-esque program. I have Photoshop, but I don't feel like learning it, haha. I opened it, clicked around for about 30 seconds, said "Fuck it" and went back to my cheapo program.

I don't have much to say so I'll just leave you some pictures of some makeup I wore last week. I'm becoming more comfortable with bolder lips. They're so much fun! (PS- The title is a line from one of my favorite poems. I'll post the poem at the end if anyone is interested. Poetry doesn't often resonate with me, but this one really does.)

I don't 'member everything I'm wearing; I'm so bad. The lips are Revlon lip butter in Lollipop with LORAC Tie Dye For Gloss in Shocking Twist over it. On my eyes the silver is a cream eyeshadow from Essence, the little bit of gold is a L'Oreal Infallible shadow, and I have Skinny Jeans cream eyeshadow from Benefit in my crease.

The Day That Never Comes And Teal Liner For Work

I'm sorry guys; I haven't much felt like blogging lately. I'm starting to wonder if I still really love makeup and nail polish or if it's just me trying to force things. I'm still waiting to feel "normal" again, but it hasn't happened yet. I guess I need to redefine what normal is for me, but I don't want this to be my new normal. Still holding out hope for things to get better. I mean, I can't give up right? Just keep on truckin'. More out of habit than any real desire to do so.

I guess I'm just (understandably) questioning everything. Who am I really, what do I want, am I doing the right thing, etc? I guess I still do enjoy my pretty sparkly things. I had fun doing a neutral lid with a sparkly teal liner under my lower lashes for work a few days ago.

FOTD- Perpetually Purple

Maybe this post should have been called Perpetually Blue instead. Because that seems to be me. I've been feeling all gross and "emo" (I hate that stupid word) lately so I haven't been posting as much as I would like to. Actually, I've been feeling that way for the past 7 months. I know things are supposed to get better with time, but I'm still waiting for that. So, Time, if you could take even a little edge off the pain I would be very grateful. Thanks.

So, my job is still going well. Which is surprising since I've pretty much hated every job I've ever had. I think I just like it because it gives me a break from thinking about how miserable I am, haha. You know things are bad when WORKING gives you a break. FOTD: Binging on Purple Poppies

Ugh, I'm terrible with naming things! One time I had a Siberian Dwarf Hamster named Leonard Nimoy, but that's only because my boyfriend named him. So, when all else fails for FOTD post names, I just do a play on the names of the products I used. Urban Decay eyeliner in Binge and Kiss My Sass eyeshadow in Purple Poppy makes "Binging on Purple Poppies"! I used several eyeshadows, so I could have easily went with "Blizzard on a Victorian Night", but I'm a sucker for alliteration. My angst-y teenage poetry was pure alliteration.  It was terrible (Here is a sample I remember- "Shadows slide and slither across a dust-laden shrine.."), but with alliteration you can fool people into thinking you know what you're doing. Isn't that how to get ahead in life? Not actually being competent, but just fooling people into believing you are? Politicians build their whole lives around it! But, I digress. I'm not sure how I went from poppies to politicians (alliteration!) but I sure can ramble can't I? Ramble on! (Anything for a Led Zep reference!)

Ugh, I'm sick. I'm pretty sure it's tonsillitis due to the fact that my right tonsil is swollen 3 times its normal size, but I refuse to go to the doctor. I guesssssss I'll go if I don't get better. My boyfriend had to be hospitalized when we were in high school because his tonsillitis was so severe. If I remember right he passed it on to me, too. Now it's my time to return the favor, MWAHAHA! Ow, the maniacal laughter hurt my throat. :(

I can't believe that I have only ever placed one (tiny) order with Darling Girl cosmetics. I absolutely love Susan, the owner, and the products, so what has stopped me from placing more orders? My wishlist is longer thank my bank account can support. I'm so indecisive that I can't narrow down my order so I end up buying nothing! Isn't that pathetic? Haha. Silver Foiled Eyes and the Lips of an African Queen

So I'm feeling better today! I've decided that I can't let the way other people act influence how I feel about my life! Haha, it's one thing to decide it, another to remember and actually do it. But I do feel better. I got some of exam grades back and I did pretty badass, thank you very much! Haha. On one I made a 94 (made a few silly mistakes, boo!) and in the class really care about (Biological Evolution) I made a 104! I was a little in shock as I was expecting that grade. The professor did curve the grades 7 points because he said most people did terribly, so I should have made a 97. This is the first professor I've had curve grades since high school, but hey, I'll take a 104.
Hmm, what else? Oh! I'm terrible for not mentioning this before, but I'm participating in a blogging project to raise money and awareness for breast cancer called Project Pink Eye. Every Friday in October different blogs will showcase pink looks and many are hosting giveaways also. FOTD: Jaded

I've been so lazy lately with my makeup and it makes me sad! I guess when it comes to waking up early to do more intricate eye looks so sleeping later, sleep always wins. Which makes for me being a boring blogger. The red and black eye from the other day was probably the most interesting thing you will ever see me do. For example, I have worn Estee Lauder's Precious Jade creme shadow about 4 out of the last 5 times I have worn makeup. the other time I wore a Benefit creme shadow, so not much improvement there. I love creme shadows because I can just slap them on and it takes me roughly 15 seconds. Seconds count when I'm trying to sleep as late as possible!

Supernova Goes POP!

Okay, so I was bored this weekend and decided to play with makeup and take weird pictures. I planned on doing both my eyes, but it took me 40 minutes to get ONE eye the way I wanted it, so when I went to take pictures I covered the other eye with my hair and pretended it was an artistic decision, not that I got lazy. So just pretend along with me mkay? Oh, and sorry for the random title; I was listening to some Powerman 5000 for nostalgia purposes and the song is stuck in my head. Does anyone remember When Worlds Collide from Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2? One of the best Tony Hawk games, imo. Haha, I'm such a dork. A dork who takes weird pictures of herself. You have been warned. Feel free to laugh. I showed my boyfriend fully expecting him to make fun of me, but when pressed he just said, "Well, that picture is a bit weird." Haha.

So here I am in all my weirdness!

The following things I used are from Evil Shades. The lipstick is Devilista. The blush is Skon (which is really too dark for me and make my cheeks look dirty, but it works with this look). The red eyeshadow is Heartless Queen. The black eyeshadows were Urban Decay's Creep and Gunmetal and I also used their Perversion eyeliner to tightline and on my waterline.

Now some eyeball pictures! I'm rather proud of this. It took me forever and I'll never do it again because it was a pain in the ass. Sorry for the random hairs in the pictures!

Here you can see Skon on my cheeks pretty well. It doesn't really work as a blush for me (the pinkness you see under the grey is my natural cheek color), but it is gorgeous as an eyeshadow. I just have a sample but I think I need a full size to use on my eyes!


As I mentioned, I did this because I  was bored. This look is already a bit over the top from what I normally wear. not that I wouldn't wear it, it just took me too damn long and I'm lazy. But I decided to take it even further and turn myself into a chola. If you don't know what a chola is, here is a picture of Sandra Bullock as a chola-

The full face pictures didn't come out right, but basically all I did was add some black on the outer parts of my lips and color my eyebrows in thick and black. It was chola-riffic!

Yay! It's Saturday! I don't plan on doing much of anything today. Read, play some video games, maybe watch a few episodes of Iron Chef America I have on DVR and THAT'S IT! I just need a day where I don't have to worry about anything and literally think about nothing all day. Haha, for some reason I am really excited by the prospect!

This is random, but did you know that whales are most closely related to hippos? I'm a Biology major, so this kind of stuff interests me. I'm taking a biological evolution course this semester that is really exciting for me so far. Yup, I'm a dork. A dork who loves pink and purple eyeshadow. I start school today and I'm always nervous the first day of new classes! I'm still lamenting my lack of a summer break, though! Oh well, I really needed to take the classes I did this summer. And I managed to get a pretty good schedule this semester. I only have classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from like 8:30 to 12:30. Oh, and I have a 3 hour lab on Wednesdays after my regular classes. Yay, that is still 4 days a week I can sleep late!
