FOTD: Unashamed Visionary

Ugh, I'm sick. I'm pretty sure it's tonsillitis due to the fact that my right tonsil is swollen 3 times its normal size, but I refuse to go to the doctor. I guesssssss I'll go if I don't get better. My boyfriend had to be hospitalized when we were in high school because his tonsillitis was so severe. If I remember right he passed it on to me, too. Now it's my time to return the favor, MWAHAHA! Ow, the maniacal laughter hurt my throat. :(

My Favorite FOTD Yet- Green and Gold

I'm gonna show you the look I did yesterday and it's perhaps one of my favorite looks ever! It's cool because I can really feel myself getting better with eye makeup application.  I'm not good by any means but it has been nice to see actually progress in becoming reasonably adequate.

Hmm, I'm trying to think of anything new to tell you guys. Um, I made an A on my first exam for my biology class! Haha, that is my whole life- studying with a tiny bit of blog thrown in.  Oooh, I made some badass chicken parmesan the other night.  It was totally non-authentic and completely fattening but I don't care because it was delicious. But we had salad on the side so it made it okay, heh.  Isn't it easy to justify things to yourself?  I'm the master at it.

Oh, and one other thing I wanted to mention. October is breast cancer awareness month. As a proud owner of a pair of tits (like most of ya'll), breast cancer is an important issue to keep, ahem, abreast of. This last picture was taken after I had been wearing this for 8 hours. It held up really well, especially considering my super watery right eye. Yes, for some reason my right eye is more watery than my left. My left is only moderately watery, haha. No matter how much primer I wear the watery-ness eats away my eye makeup in the inner corners of my eyes.

Tarte's 8th World Wonder 2nd Shipment Swatches

Sorry, guys, as of right now you can't buy any of the things I'm showing you in this post except maybe on eBay.  I ordered the first 8th World Wonder set from QVC several months ago (click here to see the post about it!) and accidentally signed up for auto-delivery.  Which means that they automatically send you (and charge you!) every three months or so for a new set with different colors.  This doesn't last indefinitely; I think there are three different sets total you will get if you signed up for auto-delivery.  Hopefully Tarte will start selling these products individually at some point because they are all really great.

So while you can't buy these things (hey, I'm saving you money!), I just thought it showed how awesome the sets are the QVC offers.  I recently bought the Glow Your Way to Gorgeous set by Tarte from QVC and that one is amazing, too.  Unfortunately I think that one is sold out, too.  So you need to get on these deals fast because they sell out quickly!  And they are good deals.  I paid like $58 for this set.  And that include shipping and tax.  What I like about the sets is that everything feels like one cohesive collection.  I was going to cancel the auto-delivery for the third and last set, but now that I have the second I need the third too!  I'm a bit of a completionist.

Beware! This post is extremely pic heavy (26 pictures!)!  I'll also show comparisons between the items from the first set.

The bag everything came in.  I love this bag!  It's pretty roomy and it opens really wide.  I have big, mannish hands so I hate bags with tiny openings!

The blush brush.  I've really been needing a new blush brush and this one is awesome. It's soft and hasn't shed on me at all.

The eyeshadow quad.  I love this packaging.  It's solid bamboo and feels light, but durable.  There is a pretty strong magnet keeping it closed, but not so strong it makes it difficult to open.

See the color in the top right?  It's called "matte softest peach" but it isn't matte at all.  It's a satin/shimmer.  Which is nice because I actually prefer that!

The shadows are definitely on the more reserved/neutral side but they're still really pretty.  I found them in general to be soft and pigmented. The matte brown was a little patchy, but hey, it's a matte.

Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in Tickled.

Sorry, the flash washed to color of the blush out some.  It's actually quite a bit darker than this.

This blush is matte.  Sorry for they stray sparkles, they're left over from the eyeshadow swatches!  I like this blush, but I didn't like the formula as well as the blush in the first shipment. This one felt a little... dry for some reason.  I know it's a powder and supposed to be dry, but it wasn't as buttery and smooth as the first blush.  I do like the color though.

Tarte PureOptic lipgloss in Pink Grapefruit

This is a thick, sheer, shimmery, minty gloss.  It isn't very sticky, but it's definitely on the thick side.  These glosses aren't super pigmented but the shimmer is gorgeous.

Amazonian Clay Waterproof eyeliner in Rich Green.

Wow, this just may be my favorite eyeliner ever.  I don't want to use it because I'm afraid to run out! Haha!  It's so gorgeous and nuanced and pigmented.  This is probably my favorite part of the whole set.

The top is the eyeliner from the first set- Golden Plum and the bottom is Rich Green from the second set.

Here is most everything together.  The mascara on my lashes, the foundation used as concealer under my eyes, the quad on my eyelids, the eyeliner on my lash line, and the blush on my cheeks.  I didn't take a picture of my whole face because, well, I was feeling lazy and only put makeup on this half, haha.

Purchases, Acquisitions, and Upcoming Reviews

Today's post is probably a bit boring, sorry!  I have another freakin exam today.  I'm a bit worried about this, but I *should* be okay (fingers crossed).  This may be my last test for my chemistry class, depending on how well I do.  If I have an A average overall in the class after this test I don't have to take the final exam.  Which I'm really hoping I don't have to take because I've already forgot everything we learned at the beginning!
I haven't been posting a lot of reviews lately just because of the time issue, but that hasn't stopped me from acquiring new pretties!  This is a lot of stuff, but don't think that I bought it all in the past week or anything.  All of this has been over the past 2 months or so and some was bought with various giftcards, discounts, or given to me. I like when people post about their recent purchases or hauls, so I hope you guys like it too.  Be prepared for seeing reviews/swatches of all this in the future!

I'm so excited about this one- I received my first items for review!  Squee!  This is especially cool to me because I don't go seeking brands out trying to get them to send me things; it just feels kinda weird to do that for me.  But Wet n Wild Tweeted that they had some items for review and they were looking for people to send them to.  They asked to send samples of your work.  I figured since they were asking it wouldn't hurt to send them an email.  I sent them an email talking a little bit about my blog and added links to my previous Wet n Wild reviews.  I didn't expect to hear back from them as my blog is still pretty small, but I heard back from them within a few hours saying that they loved my blog and asking for my address.

I have been really impressed with Wet n Wild's PR team.  They respond quickly, never made me feel pressured to give their products good reviews just because they sent them to me for free, and were very nice.  They just asked that when I did review to send them the links.  Even my boyfriend, Mr. Cynical, was impressed.  Of course it's in their best interest to be nice to everyone, but I just feel like they went above and beyond.  Look at the cute little note they sent in my package!

Of course just because I was sent these doesn't mean I won't be honest.  My integrity is VERY important to me personally and I don't like it when people mislead others just to get more free stuff for themselves.  I don't even want to work with a brand that exchanges products for glowing reviews.  I want the companies I support to have integrity also, and take both positive and negative feedback as an opportunity for growth and improvement.

Moving on!  Sorry for the novel!

Here are some discontinued Wet n Wild blushes that I bought on eBay. When I saw this post on Pink Sith I went to eBay to search for it.  The packaging looks different from hers, but the color looks the same.  You may be asking why I need 3 of the same color.  Well, I don't.  This was just the only auction that was up!  Plus it was only like $4 with free shipping for all 3 of these.  I would have gladly paid that for just one.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the other 2, haha.

My Pretty Zombie was on Heartsy (referral link) about 3 weeks ago and of course I had to buy a voucher.  I already have the pink mNg trio (which is incredible and I still need to post about) so I got three eyeshadows and their matching nail polishes. I don't see that she is selling the nail polish anymore, which is a shame because they look gorgeous.

I had a $25 gift certificate for Kiss My Sass Cosmetics for a few months and I finally spent it.  I'm really excited to try the glosses!

I bought a voucher for this comapany from Heartsy on a whim.  It wasn't very much and since I have the VIP thing my voucher was worth even more.  I haven't tried anything yet, but I'll let you guys know what I think.

Milani had a giveaway on Facebook a month ago or so where they were giving  a bunch of people free baked blushed in Terra Sole.  I was lucky enough to be one of them.  I thought this would be too dark for me, but it actually works well if I use a light hand.

I bought all this when Concrete Minerals was on Heartsy as well.  I still haven't tried the eyeshadows yet, but they look pretty in their jars.

Detrivore Cosmetics store is currently on hiatus as they finish moving, but I definitely recommend everyone order from them when they open back up.  This is my second order from them that I received about a month ago and am waiting to swatch until they open their store again.

When I bought the first Tarte 8th World Wonder kit from QVC several months ago I didn't realized that I had accidentally signed up for auto-delivery until I received this in the mail a week or so ago.  Unfortunately QVC doesn't sell these kits unless you signed up for auto-delivery with the first kit.  I guess i should have sent it back but I just couldn't make myself.  Don't tell my boyfriend!

I had a giftcard for QVC that I got from doing surveys so I bought this Tarte set.  This was before the other set came in the mail, so now I have this one and that one!  Luckily this one was paid for with the giftcard so I really only had to pay for the other.  Now that I think about it, let me make sure I didn't sign up for auto-delivery with this one too...

FOTD: Sleekly Tarte and Buxom

I know I sound like a broken record continuously complaining about how busy I am.  I'm getting kinda tired of it myself.  Well, if I wasn't so damned busy I wouldn't have to complain, haha!  It feels like when I'm not working on school, I'm sleeping.  Luckily I still have a bit of time to put on makeup (most days) so I've been taking pictures of it.  Yesterday I got up early enough to fix my hair so you get more than just a picture of my eyeball.  I'm still not ready to show my un-straightened hair; it's a wavy poofy mess.
Sorry if I look tired, it's because I am!

I'm wearing colors from Buxom's Stay-There eyeshadow palette on my eyes, Sleek's Pan Tao blush on my cheeks (VERY light application), and Tarte's PureOptic lipgloss in Pink Grapefruit on my lips.  The black liner is Wet n Wild's gel eyeliner and the mascara is Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara.  Oh, and I don't wear foundation.  I use concealer under my eyes because of dark circles, but I never wear foundation.  The most I wear is some SPF 50 powder from Physician's Formula, but I'm not wearing it in this picture.  I just have on some translucent setting powder so my face doesn't get shiny.  I'm lucky that I've never had problems with acne or anything. Which is good because I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to skincare.  I need to start being more consistent!

FOTD: Pink-Orange Eyes, Coral Cheeks, and Straight Hair

Whew, another long day and I'm wiped out.  Sooo... that means another short post. Sorry! :(  Here is a quick  eye look I wore to school last week.  Someone ALWAYS has to comment whenever I wear bright or bold eyeshadow.  Colors like this normal to me, but there is always someone who says (usually a catty girl wearing thin veil of courtesy), "Wow, your eyeshadow is really... bright."  No shit lady, I may not be the best at it, but I really did not apply it in the dark.  I do know what color I'm wearing.

The time I wore this, a girl in my chemistry lab walked by and did a double take.  "Um, why are you wearing orange eyeshadow?!" I just stared at her in shock for a few seconds, not knowing what to say. My lab partner (a guy; he's really cool) said, "Uh, maybe because she wants to?" I just smiled at her at her and said, "Well duh, you couldn't think of that yourself? You had to ask me?"  At this point my lab partner was sniggering at her and I guess she didn't expect him to take up for me so she spun around really quick and went back to her table.  I just told me lab partner, "What a dumb bitch", we laughed for a minute and moved on.  She still glares at me whenever she sees me.  I just smile at her.

I don't understand why people feel the need to boost themselves by tearing other people down.  Or trying at least.  I'm far enough out of middle school to where the mean things girls say doesn't bother me.  I obviously wear or do something because I like it, not because you do.  How hard is that to comprehend?!  When people are catty like that, I just laugh at them.  They are plainly insecure and trying to boost their self image by ruining yours, so laughing at them is probably the worst thing you can do.

On that note, here I am in my orange eyeshadow.

I'm wearing some mattes from Sleek's Paraguaya palette on my eyes, and Tarte's Amazonian Clay blush in Glisten on my cheeks.  I'm not wearing anything on my lips because I forgot. Boo.  I ended up wearing MAC Evolution Revolution lipglass and wish I had gotten a picture of the whole look together.

I've decided to post pictures of myself more often.  I'm tired of being insecure because I'm overweight.  I'm not so afraid of being judged because I'm fat, but because I'm weak.  Being overweight shows that I'm weak and THAT is what bothers me for other people to know. I'm ashamed that I'm not happy with my current body (mostly for health reasons), but I lack the willpower to change it.  I know plenty of people who are overweight and perfectly content with themselves.  But that isn't me, and I try my best to hide my discomfort with myself because my weakness scares me.  I also think I just try to ignore it, which keeps me being fat, because I would be reminded of my failings. So, I try not to think about it (even though it doesn't really work, haha). Does that make sense?

Woah, this post was longer and more personal and introspective than I originally planned.  Eh, it was cathartic to type about, even if no one reads it!

EOTD: Overly Dramatic

I want to start out by saying that I am way too chicken caca (like how I softened the phrase up a bit?) to wear this look in public (I just wore it around the house, haha).  I'm slowly working my way up to wearing more bold looks out and about but I'm not quite to this level yet.  Plus I don't really know what I'm doing so I haven't really figured out how to do this look in the most flattering way.  The first time I tried I ended up with shadow over my whole eye area, up to my eye brow.  It looked like a big gross blob of color.  I'm okay at picking colors to go together, I just can figure out where and what shape to put them on my lid.

So I'll subject you to my attempt.  If you have any suggestions for me I would really appreciate them 'cuz I'm a complete noob at doing eye looks more complicated than "light color on the lid, darker color in the crease".

First I  colored my whole lid with MAC Greasepaint Stick in French Quarter. I then applied Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy over French Quarter.  I used Essence Muse Marilyn (part of the LE Whoom Booom collection) on lower part of lid.  I then used Essence's Chacalaca (also part of Whoom Booom; terrible name, I know) in the crease and below the lower lash line. To give it a little sparkle I used Persephone Minerals' Moon Crystal Power over whole lid and on brown bone. I then lined my upper lashes with MAC Superslick Liquid liner in Smokey Heir and patted Moon Crystal Power on top. Urban Decay's Perversion is on the waterline.

And here is a bonus Lip of the Day I also wore around the house, but only because I didn't have anywhere to go and I was feelin' a bit sassy. Haha.

I'm not even sure I'm brave enough to wear bright pink sparkly lips out of the house yet either, but I'm working on it.
