Stila Cool Lip Glaze Trio Swatches and Review

I saw this set at Sephora for $12 and HAD to buy it. I'm a sucker for discount sets. They have another set called Warm with, well, warm colors and I think I need it, too.  This is my third day in row doing a lip swatch post! I'm just obsessed with them currently, haha.

The glosses are smaller than the regular sized Lip Glazes. These are 0.05 fl. oz./1.5 ml while the full sizes are .08 fl. oz./2.4 ml. The amount you get for the price tag is really good as the full sized glosses sell for $22 each, which is not even twice as much product as the ones in this kit. I think sometimes brand over-exaggerate the value of their sets. This one claims to have a value of $41 and that seems about right (sorry, I'm waaaay too lazy to do the math).

Stila Cool Lip Glazes in Grapefruit, Seashell, and Raisin

I know a lot of people are familiar with these glosses, but I have never tried them, so I'll describe them for you.

Like a lot of click pen glosses, it takes a million (Yes, a million. I counted.) "clicks" before the gloss starts to come out. I think I prefer doe-foot applicators to brush tips, but they aren't bad and you can be pretty precise about where the gloss goes. Each gloss has their own scent, which I'll talk about under the swatch of each color, that is supposed to reflect the color name. The scents are a little strong and artificial to me, but it won't stop me from wearing them.

The colors tend to be on the sheerer side, but still deposit an amount of color I'm happy with. My lips are not very pigmented, so the results of those with more pigmentation in their lips might vary. These glosses are pretty thick and sticky. Not MAC Lipglass sticky, but still sticky. I don't care for lipglasses that much and these are just about as sticky as I like to go with lipglosses. The good thing is that this means the gloss lasts on your lips longer than a thinner or less sticky gloss. The reason I don't care for sticky glosses is not because my hair sticks to them more (I find that my hair sticks to ANYTHING I put on my lips, even balm) but because I like that my lips feel glued together and I have to peel them apart every time I move them. But like I said, these don't give me quite the glue lips feeling that lipglasses do.

Stila Cool Lip Glaze in Grapefruit

Judging by the name of this one it should smell like grapefruit but it doesn't to me. I guess there is a vague citrus-y scent, but it smells kind of like furniture polish.

This one confused me because I'm not sure how a seashell is supposed to smell. What confused me further is that this one smelled like maple syrup to me. Weird. But then again I'm terrible with discerning scents and describing what I smell, so take everything with a grain of salt.

The one didn't smell like raisins which I am grateful for as I abhor raisins. Unless they're California Raisins, obviously. This one smelled floral, fruity and sweet, like a tropical fruit. Maybe passion fruit?


Overall I think this set is definitely worth the $12. I like that I can use these by themselves and also that they work well for layering.

FOTD: Blackened Gold Revolution

Okay, yeah, I know the title of this post doesn't make any sense.  I'm terrible at coming up with names so I decided to just go with a color description of my eyeshadow and a partial name of the lipgloss I was wearing. I guess it sounds better than, "FOTD: Hey, Look At This Look I Did Last Week You Guys!". Hm, now that I think of it, I kind of like that title better, haha.

So yeah, I did this look last week.  I don't go anywhere but to school and I randomly decided I felt like getting all dolled up. I usually put my hair in a bun, throw on some concealer, mascara and a wash of eyeshadow, a tshirt, jeans, and Converse and I'm out the door in 15 minutes.  I still wore jeans and Converse, just nicer hair, makeup and shirt than I usually do. This probably isn't going to happen all that often as I value my sleep more than I do looking pretty. I mean, I do have SOME standards, but any day I'm not scaring small children is one I consider a success.  But I probably would forgo even that for 30 minutes extra sleep.

• L'Oreal HIP pigment in Visonary (gold) over Hocua Pocus (because Hocus Pocus wasn't shimmery and gold enough for my tastes)

I Heart This Blush- Stila Make Me Blush Cheek Color and swatches

Apparently Sunday was my day to buy heart-embossed blushes because I bought Stila's Make Me Blush AND both shades of Physician's Formula Happy Booster blushes.  I was super excited to find the Stila blush at my local Sephora because it was limited edition and sold out on Sephora's website and Stila's.  With limited edition items I'm so afraid of getting sucked into "OMG! HAFTA buy before it disapears FOREVER!!!!" mentality (a la MAC's LE collections) that I put off buying it because I want to make sure I really want it.  Of course I end up waiting too long and it does disappear forever or I have to spend a fortune for it on eBay.  For example, I regret not buying Kat Von D's Memento Mori palette so much.  I keep a look out for it on eBay and the last one I saw sold for over $80!!  For a palette that retailed for less than $40!  Yikes.

So I'm glad I was able to get my hands on this blush, especially since I'm blush obsessed at the moment.  So does the blush meet my expectations?  Lets find out!

The 4 gold hearts are just an over spray.  It is super glittery, but wipes off easily.  I just wiped mine off with a cotton ball.

 The first swatch is just the over spray and then it is the over spray mixed with the blush.  The third swatch is all the heart colors mixed together and swatched heavily while the last swatch is the blush blended out.

The color is a very pretty and flattering pinky coral shimmer.  On pale skin you need to make sure not too apply too much because it is very easy to overdo.  For this cheek swatch I actually had to wash it off and reapply because I put waaay too much the first time.  This is still more blush than I usually wear, but I wanted to clearly show the color.  The eye shadows are by Persephone Minerals and are from this post.

Pros:

• Great pigmentation
• Cute design
• Overly-glittery gold spray wipes off easily
• Good price if you can find it for $14
• Non-powdery texture that blends well

Cons:

• Need to be careful not to apply too much on fair skin
• Limited edition item and can be difficult to find

• If you really HAVE to have it I've seen them on eBay.

Wait, Where Did All My Money Go?! AKA Recent Hauls

Phew, trying to get new content for a blog is draining... my bank account!  I know buying makeup is a sacrifice I must make for the betterment of my blog and to benefit all you guys.  Because that is totally the only reason I buy makeup- for the blog. Yeah right!  But it does make a good excuse to buy more.  I tell my boyfriend, "But I NEED this... for the blog!"  And he usually gives in.  He's a good boy.

Here are some things I've bought this month.  Plan on seeing swatch pictures and all that good junk soon.  Oh, here is a link to my mall haul from last week.

I LOVE these Sally Girl eyeshadows.  I have about 25 now and I really like how you can connect them together to make your own palette.  Plus, at 94 cents with your Sally Card (99 cents without) these are a steal.

I bought these during HauteLook's (personal invitation link) Urban Decay sale.  Everything I bought was $5 each.

Out of everything this is what I'm most excited about- my Persephone Minerals order.  Seriously, I can't WAIT to show these eyeshadows; they are absolutely beautiful.  I'll probably make this my post for tomorrow.

And last but not least, Urban Decay's Naked palette and Stila Make Me Blush Cheek Color.  I can't believe my local Sephora had Naked in stock.  The SA said that they got in a shipment of 50! I've always been "meh" about the Naked palette but I finally swatched it myself and fell in love.  Plus, I printed out the Beauty Insider 15% off coupon and was able to use it in store.  Yay!  And, I've been wanting that Stila blush FOREVER.  Here is the printable 15% off coupon if anyone is interested.  Coupon is valid until April 21st.

Okay, I think it's time to stop spending money now!  I know this probably seems like a lot but i haven't bought anything for myself in a really long time and just went a little crazy.  A few night ago I bought Sleek's (a British drugstore makeup brand) Avoir La Peche collection from their website.  International shipping was a little steep at $13.50, but after seeing tons of swatches I had to have it!
