EOTD: Pastels With Persephone Minerals

 Ugh, I'm frustrated! Has Blogger been giving any of the rest of you gals problems?  I had a post all written and edited ready to go for today and it completely disappeared!  So I just threw this one together real quick so I wouldn't miss a day!

Have I told you in the last 5 minutes how much I love Persephone Mineral's Mars Crystal Power?  If not, you must not have been paying attention because I say it at least every 5 minutes.  Frankly, I think my dogs are starting to think I'm crazy for talking to myself. ALL of Persephone Mineral's shadow are amazing however, and recently I forced myself to not wear MCP for one day and wear some of the other colors.  I'm not even sure what I was doing here.  I just starting slapping colors on my face and it ended up looking like this.  It ended up looking really pastel so that is what the look is called- Pastel Eye Look.  Yeah, I suck at naming.

As a highlight and in the inner corner I used Moon Prism Power. The inner third of the eyelid is Falling Angel, the middle third is Mercury Crystal Power, and the outer third is Jupiter Crystal Power. The crease is Whimper with Moon Prism Power on top. The lower lash line mimics the placement of the lid colors. Lastly, the upper eye liner is Urban Decay's Asphyxia.

And here is an insanely inexpensive lip combo I wore with this EOTD.  The two products I used are both Wet n Wild and I think together they cost me 2 or 3 bucks.

EOTD: Sunrise Over Mars (Orange and Coral)

Here is another quick post.  Sorry about this!  Once I get back home I'll be able to devote more time to blogging again.  Well, until I start my summer classes in a week and a half! Yikes! I forgot about my classes.  I had to drop out of the Spring semester for medical reasons so I really need to take classes this summer to help me get back on track.

ANYWAY, here is an EOTD I did a few weeks ago and barely am getting around to posting.  Oh, and a bonus L(ip)OTD too!

As you may know, I am obsessed (OBSESSED!) with Persephone Minerals' Mars Crystal Power eye shadow.  It feels like I wear it every other time I do my makeup.  This one is just a simple look, but I really like it.

This is Persephone Minerals' Mars Crystal Power on the lid and urban Decay Jones in the crease and a little below the lower lash line.  I used a felt tip eye liner from Physician's Formula on my upper lash line.  Oh, and a random shimmery shadow to highlight.

This is what my eye shadow looked like after 8 hours.  My mascara smudged a little, but the eye shadow itself looks exactly the same.  Gotta love a good eye shadow primer!

You NEED These Eyeshadows! Persephone Minerals review and swatches

 Phew, sit back and relax, this is gonna be a long one!

I first saw swatches of Persephone Minerals' eye shadows on Phyrra's blog.  It was a look she created using Mars Crystal Power that finally pushed me to order.  The only other Indie makeup company I have ordered from is Fyrinnae and I love their shadows and especially Pixie Epoxy.  But, I think I just might love these shadows more!

When I first decided to order I knew I wanted a full size jar of Mars Crystal Power and several various sample jars.  I sent the owner, Victoria, a convo on Etsy stating what I wanted and it only took her and hour and a half to reply and post my listing!  She was really sweet and accommodating.  Her stated turn around time is 5 to 10 business days, which is very reasonable.  I placed my order on the 10th (a Sunday) and I received it on the 15th.  Very good timing!

However, if you aren't sure of what you want, the swatch pictures she has for each shade are good quality and pretty color accurate.  I like that she has swatch pictures on skin rather than just pictures of the product in the jar.

The shadows were packaged in a standard bubble mailer.

Here is my invoice. I like how she wrote my order down and checked everything off.  It just made it feel like she really cared about getting my order correct.

The shadows were packed neatly in a pretty gold organza bag.

I bought one full size jar and 7 sample jars.  The two samples in the baggies were freebies.  The ingredients  are not listed on the jars, which doesn't bother me, but I know it does some people.  She does include a slip of paper with the ingredients on it, but I'm not sure why it only has the ingredients for the full size jar.

The jars are all, even the samples, 3 gram jars with no sifters.  The full sizes are packed to the brim and are a little over half a teaspoon while the samples are 1/8th of a teaspoon.  The full size jars have a sticker with the company name on top and are shrink wrapped.

All jars have a sticker on the bottom with the name of the shadow printed on it.  I like that the names are printed and not hand written; it looks more professional.

You can see how the full size (top left) is completely filled and even the samples sizes have quite a bit of shadow in them.

I'm frustrated that the pictures dull the shadows a bit and you can't see how nuanced and gorgeous they really are.  For example Moon Prism Power isn't just a sparkly silver, but really a duochrome of blue and pink in a light sparkly base.

Mars Crystal Power is seriously the most gorgeous eye shadow i have ever seen.  If I could only use one eye shadow for the rest of my life it would be this one.  And you better believe I would be rockin' it at 80 years old.  It's a pink and gold duochrome that shifts from dark pink, to coral, to orange, to gold.  Absolutely breathtaking.

 Here is a look I did inspired by the look Phyrra created which prompted me to place an order in the first place:

I used a base of Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy.  I used Mars Crystal Power over my whole lid.  Then I put Blood Orange Sorbet on the outer third of my lid and below the lower lash line, then used Pink Sugar Heart Attack in my crease.  Moon Prism Power is used in the inner corner of my eye as well as to blend out the crease and highlight my browbone.  I also patted it over Blood Orange Sorbet below my lower lashes and over Urban Decay's Perversion which I used to line my upper lash and water line.

So yeah, could you tell that I couldn't decide on what picture to use and just used them all?

So, Persephone Minerals is my newest obsession!

Wait, Where Did All My Money Go?! AKA Recent Hauls

Phew, trying to get new content for a blog is draining... my bank account!  I know buying makeup is a sacrifice I must make for the betterment of my blog and to benefit all you guys.  Because that is totally the only reason I buy makeup- for the blog. Yeah right!  But it does make a good excuse to buy more.  I tell my boyfriend, "But I NEED this... for the blog!"  And he usually gives in.  He's a good boy.

Here are some things I've bought this month.  Plan on seeing swatch pictures and all that good junk soon.  Oh, here is a link to my mall haul from last week.

I LOVE these Sally Girl eyeshadows.  I have about 25 now and I really like how you can connect them together to make your own palette.  Plus, at 94 cents with your Sally Card (99 cents without) these are a steal.

I bought these during HauteLook's (personal invitation link) Urban Decay sale.  Everything I bought was $5 each.

Out of everything this is what I'm most excited about- my Persephone Minerals order.  Seriously, I can't WAIT to show these eyeshadows; they are absolutely beautiful.  I'll probably make this my post for tomorrow.

And last but not least, Urban Decay's Naked palette and Stila Make Me Blush Cheek Color.  I can't believe my local Sephora had Naked in stock.  The SA said that they got in a shipment of 50! I've always been "meh" about the Naked palette but I finally swatched it myself and fell in love.  Plus, I printed out the Beauty Insider 15% off coupon and was able to use it in store.  Yay!  And, I've been wanting that Stila blush FOREVER.  Here is the printable 15% off coupon if anyone is interested.  Coupon is valid until April 21st.

Okay, I think it's time to stop spending money now!  I know this probably seems like a lot but i haven't bought anything for myself in a really long time and just went a little crazy.  A few night ago I bought Sleek's (a British drugstore makeup brand) Avoir La Peche collection from their website.  International shipping was a little steep at $13.50, but after seeing tons of swatches I had to have it!
