My Makeup Stash!

Several months ago I bought a Sterilite 5 drawer thing to store my makeup in.

I figured it had more room than I could ever use.  Oh how wrong I was!  My stash has grown considerably from what it used to be.  Look at this post and compare with the following pictures to see how much crap I've bought in a pretty short period of time.  Yeah, I need to slow down and use what I have.

First Drawer

The far left basket is all my eyeliners, the middle is all my brushes, the top right is single eyeshadows and the bottom left has cream eyeshadows in pots and pencil and gel eyeliners.

Second Drawer

The top left has most of my eyeshadow palettes and some mascaras that don't seem to fit anywhere else. The bottom left basket has loose pigments and shadows that are not indie. The right basket has smaller eyeshadow palettes, duos, and trios.

Third Drawer

The top left basket has concealers, foundations, and powders.  The bottom left has highlighters and primers.  The right basket is all blushes.

Fourth Drawer

The top left basket has lipsticks and a random bottle of brush cleaner.  The bottom left has lipglosses and the right basket is all indie eye shadow.

Fifth Drawer

This is a random drawer. It has my Naked palette and a Sleek palette, random samples, and the rest are things I don't use very often.

How Many Lip Products Are Too Many To Have In Your Purse?

Okay, let me just get this out there right now... I have 23 lip products in my purse.  23!

Earlier I was cleaning out my purse (mostly old receipts) when my boyfriend looked over and gawked at my pile of lip glosses, lipsticks, and lip balms.

"Are those all YOURS?" He asked me with a horrified look on his face.  I didn't tell him that these are just the ones from my purse.  I have another 5 to 6 on my desk, 2 on HIS desk, 3 by my bed, and 10 to 15 scattered around the rest of the house.

I'm not sure how I manage to fit them in my medium-small purse along with my hair brush, oversized wallet, body spray, lotion, various pens, feminine hygiene products (always be prepared!), pocket knife, and a fork.  Yes a fork.  For emergencies. Oh, and a miniature sewing kit.  Also for emergencies.

Yeah, so I have 23 lippies in my purse: 4 lipsticks, 3 lip balms, 3 lip products in pots, 1 lip gloss with a brush tip, 6 lip glosses with doe-foot applicators, and 6 lip glosses in squeeze tubes.

I Like It Cheap and Easy- My Makeup Storage Solution

Liking it cheap and easy is not always best, but when it comes to storage, it's what works best for me.  I don't want something complicated that takes 10 years to assemble or requires a complex system of levers and pulleys screwed with special screws to the ceiling or something.  I also don't want it to cost much, because I would rather be spending it on other things (ahem, makeup and nail polish).

I spent all my money on "other things" for so long that the makeup just piled up on a shelf in my linen closet.  I also kept stuffing more and more into my makeup bag until it couldn't close anymore.  I was so frustrated with the disorganization I resorted to only using the top few items in my makeup bag and neglecting the rest.

I finally (!) decided I needed some organization.  So I headed down to Walmart, bought a Sterilite 5 drawer storage tower, and some organizer baskets.  I have a bit of OCD so organizing is fun for me; but I'm also lazy so I rarely do it.  I guess the laziness usually wins.

The  storage tower was $17.97 and the 3 3-packs and 1 2-pack of organizers were $1.17 each.  So for under $25 with tax I'm set!

Oh, and I have something else for my nail polish collection.  Unfortunately it would not all fit in one of these on its own, much less sharing it with makeup.

As you can see the inserts fit perfectly, almost as if they were made to fit in the drawers (they weren't though, I just got lucky).

1st drawer

The top left basket has single pressed eyeshadows.
The top right has cream shadows, gel and cream eyeliners, and eyeshadow pencils.
The middle has my makeup brushes and a tube of Too Faced Shadow Insurance that snuck in there.
The bottom drawer has pen and pencil eyeliners.

2nd drawer

The top basket has pressed eyeshadow palettes with 2 to 6 shadows and some random mascaras.
The bottom left has foundations and concealers.
The bottom right has face powders and primers.

3rd drawer

The top basket has loose eyeshadows.  Mostly Fyrinnae samples on the left and L'Oreal HIP pigments on the right.
The bottom left has eyeshadow palettes.
The bottom right has blushes.

4th drawer

In the back are a few of those huge multi-pan palettes from eBay.
The middle is a random bronzer I never wear and Maybelline Dream Mousse shadows I got from Dollar Tree.
The front basket has a few lip products that aren't currently in my purse (I have about 10 times as many in my purse).

5th drawer

This just has a few empty makeup bags.  Yay!  Room for expansion!

I purchased the Sterilite 5 drawer tower at Walmart, but I don't see in their website or even the Sterilite website.  Maybe it was discontinued and what I bought was just old stock.  It is similar to to this one, but it has 7 drawers instead.

My Zoya Polishes

Zoya is an awesome company.  They have fabulous nail polish in a wide variety of  colors and finishes.While they aren't available in stores (online is the best place to buy them), it is really worth it to pick some up if you are a nail polish lover.  They also have great customer service and really care about their customers as they are always having promotions.  The bulk of my current collection came when they were having a BOGO free promotion.  The others came when they had a promotion for reaching 20,000 fans on Facebook.  You got 3 polishes free and just had to pay for shipping and handling.

So I went from having zero Zoya polishes to having 14 seemingly overnight. Being entrenched in the nail blogging community I forget that buying more than 1 or 2 polishes once a year or so is highly unusual for most people. Heck, P.P.O.D. (Pre-Polish-Obsession Days) 14 polishes used to be more than I owned total, not just of one brand.  Also, before I knew better I threw out all the colors I had that were not nudes or pinks in a fit of color hating rage.  I'm so mad I did this... old school Sinfuls, Streetwears, and Sally Hansen polishes all gone.  The only colors I have left from my childhood are some ugly frosty mauves my grandma gave me. Ugh!  Oh well, I guess eBay has to be good for something.

I really wish I could have swatched all of these, but I'm just starting out blogging and I'm TERRIBLE at swatching.  I was able to swatch two before I got frustrated and gave up.  I'll post those later.  for now, here ar some bottle pics.

Zoya Tiffany and Lola

• Tiffany is a peachy-pink metallic shimmer with gold flecks.  The gold flecks show up much more prominently in real life.
• Lola is a neon hot pink with a blue shimmer flash.  Unfortunately the blue flash isn't showing up in this picture, but it is very visible in real life.

Zoya Adina, Savita, Valerie, and Casey

• Adina is an almost frosty looking purple with a strong green duochrome.
• Savita is matte blue leaning purple with tons of pink shimmer.  This is gorgeous with a top coat.
• Valerie is a reddish purple metallic base with golden copper shimmer flecks.  Once again the gold flecks are not showing up in the picture.
• Casey is a vampy, blackened purpley red.

Zoya Ivanka, Shawn, and Edyta

• Ivanka is blueish emerald green base with grassy green shimmer flecks.
• Shawn is dirtied yellow green creme.
• Edyta is a dark forrest green base with lots of golden and green shimmer flecks.

Zoya Crystal and Kotori

• Crystal is a light blue shimmer with golden metallic flecks.
• Kotori is a sapphire blue in a blackened blue base.

Zoya Kelly, Ki, and Loredana

• Kelly is stormy, purple tinted gray creme.
• Ki looks like an oil slick in a bottle.  It is a dark base with a purple and green duochrome.
• Loredana is a matte charcoal with multicolored shimmer.  The colored shimmer is not very apparent without a topcoat.
