My main criteria in finding a job was one that let me wear any polish in my extensive collection. Okay, maybe that wasn't a criteria, I just needed a job. When I was hired last week I purposefully never asked what the nail polish policy was because I was afraid of the answer. So my first day I decided to do a test. I wore glitter, but not TOO over the top, as glitter goes. I purposefully waved my hands around a lot to make sure my boss would notice them and he never said a word. Probably because he thought I was a crazy person for waving my hands around so much. So anyway, I took this as the "all clear" to wear any polish I want. Plus, I did end up asking. Picture me wearing this polish and fluttering my fingers in the face of my new boss. I'm sure that's what it looked like!
This was 2 coats of Wet n Wild Jewels for Your Highness. It looks more sheer in the pictures than it did in real life, but it probably could have used another coat.

It's so weird; at some angles it looks green.
This picture is of my mom's snapdragons when they were still pretty. It's getting hot here and they aren't too happy with it. Hell, who is?
I'll leave you with a picture of my parent's beagle resting his head on my pug's back. They both desperately want the squeaky carrot toy at the bottom that I'm teasing them with.
Cute pic of the pooches :) At my work, it says to wear natural/neutral looking nails and makeup. Well I don't like that rule so I wear whatever I want... really waiting for someone to say something and so far so good. I think I should be ok with all the tattoos I see around here. Only thing I can't get away with is my face piercings.
ReplyDeleteThey are cute right? Haha, I'm a proud doggy parent. Do they let you wear other hair colors besides "natural"? I don't think they would at my work. :( Not that I dye my hair, haha.
DeleteFrom my experience thus far, *usually* cosmetics places allow a teeny bit more room for creativity in your personal appearance. (I remember being really excited when I read that it was ok to have ANY colored streaks in your hair, Even though I have not had streaks in my hair of any sort in years). I am just picturing you mesmerizing your boss with glittery jazz hands :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if they would allow "non-natural" colored hair. The store I'm at (it's mostly clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. with a few cosmetic counters) caters mostly to older people and pink hair or something might be too much for them! Haha, glittery jazz hands. That is exactly the phrase I was searching for.
DeleteAwww, how cute! I work in education so I am constantly worried about my eyeshadow and nail polish choices. What I've learned: subtle eye color is okay (or colored eyeliner), and do whatever the heck I want with my nails. I used bright-obnoxious-neon orange, and the kids love it! So do teachers, they think it's fun :)
ReplyDeleteI would be okay with wearing neutral makeup, but would be devastated to not be able to wear any color of nail polish. I would have loved it if I had had a teacher with neon orange nails!
DeleteI was so glad when I realized my new job had no polish restrictions!! I can't imagine how sad I would have been wearing only neutrals to work all week :/
ReplyDeleteYay no polish restrictions! I completely agree. Neutral makeup I could do, nails... not so much.
DeleteThis is so pretty! I did the same thing around my boss when I worked in retail. We weren't technically allowed to wear anything other than basic neutrals or red, but I would purposefully try different colors out around her to see if it was OK. LOL. Probably better just to ask, but it never turned out to be a problem!
ReplyDeleteYour nails look fabulous, by the way. :)
Thanks Steph! You worked at makeup counters right? I've been having interviews to work at one in the store I just got hired at and I really want it! I think I just have one more interview to go!
DeleteI love this shade. I'm going to try and create a similar shade by layering a glitter over Confetti Belle of the Ball.
ReplyDeleteYou are turning this cat lady into a dog lady!
Oh man, I just looked up Belle of the Ball and I need that one now too!
DeleteHaha, you should get a dog too! My parents have a cat and he does the funniest things. I love cats, but I'll always be a dog person at heart. I'm just needy and like the unconditional love. Cats are too temperamental, haha.
How much you wanna bet my cats will eat the dog? LOL. I'm trying to get a volunteer position at an animal shelter, so i will get a chance to be around dogs.
DeleteDid i tell you that my brother has a dog? http://themakeuptrain.com/2011/09/19/notd-opi-bling-dynasty/
This is a lovely nail polish. I'm so glad you can wear it to work!
ReplyDeleteSoooo you got a new job??? Yay! Congrats :-D
