Rainbow Honey FAB Summer Set Swatches

Some more Rainbow Honey swatches for you! I got sent these polishes for review (mini sizes) and immediately after swatching them I went and bought the full sizes. I love them that much!

These polishes are a little unusual as they are not available on Rainbow Honey's website. They are exclusively available on FAB (affiliate link for those who do not have an account with FAB) and only as a set and for a limited time. For a discounted price of $25 (normal price $30) you get three full size bottles including:

tenda is a bright kelly green lacquer with golden shimmer

costa del sol is a shimmery lacquer full of iridescent and holographic glitters ready to add some sun and sparkle to your manicure

schrammi is a deep coral lacquer with golden shimmer

For the swatches I used two coats for each of the base colors (Schrammi and Tenda) and one coat of Costa del Sol on my ring finger.  The polishes applied great. The two creams with gold flecks were a teensy bit thick but not streaky and overall had a good formula. The glitter only needed one coat to get a nice amount of glitter on the nail and wasn't as thick as glitters in clear bases sometimes are.

Rainbow Honey The Robot Collection Swatches and Review

Another late post! But luckily these are still available. I was sent these polishes from Rainbow Honey's The Robot Collection to review awhile ago and I'm just now getting to them. But no matter, just like anything Rainbow Honey does the concept is amazing and the product and attention to detail never fail to blow me away. To be honest, before trying the polishes I was unimpressed by the concept of black and white glitter over different colored chromes. But I can admit that I was wrong as the polishes look really great together. I am completely converted. So much so that I went and bought a full size bottle of the glitter, Yoshimi, because I was afraid of running out.


Rainbow Honey has the best packaging and design out of pretty much any company I've ever ordered from. Everything is consistent and well-thought out to the tiniest details.


This collection is special because along with the regular .5 fl oz (15 mL) bottles for $10 you can also get all 6 polishes as a set of 4 mL bottles for $25 (the set of full size bottles is $50).


The mini bottles DO NOT have mini brushes, thankfully. The brushes are full sized and easy to use.

The metallic chrome polishes might not be entirely unique, but they are very well done. You probably could get away with one thick coat, but I thought they looked better with two thin coats. The amount of metallic pigment (aluminum flakes) makes the texture a tad thick but I didn't find them too difficult to work with.

Rainbow Honey Yoshimi over Bitty Love Bot, Femme Bot, and Dusty Bot

Yoshimi - A truly mod black & white combination of glitters sprinkled with a bit of iridescence

This is one coat of Yoshimi dabbed over the base colors. It applies really well for this type of glitter as long you don't try to brush it on like a regular polish. Dabbing is the key here!

Rainbow Honey Sweet Talk Collection Valentine's Day 2013 Sweet Talk And XOXO Swatches and Review

Welllll, wow! It's been a little while hasn't it? I didn't expect to take a two month hiatus from the blog. The holidays just hit me a little harder than I expected and you know how it goes- life gets in the way.

But, I received these two beautiful polishes from Rainbow Honey's Sweet Talk Collection and just had to share them with you (check the end of the post for a $5 off coupon code). I'm completely in love with all the polishes I've used from Rainbow Honey. The polishes are unique, and the branding is professional, creative, and beautiful.

There are three polishes in this collection-

• Be Mine- "A lovely kiss of pink on your nails with a dusting of microshimmer and gold flecks."
• Sweet Talk- "A decadently sweet collection of pastel glitters in a white jelly with hidden shimmer."
• XOXO- "A ravishing blend of glitters and flakes in a clear base for easy use over any manicure."

I received the two I was looking forward to most, Sweet Talk and XOXO for review.

These are the Goldilocks of brushes- not to thick, not too thin, not too stiff, and not too floppy.

This was 3 coats. It looks a thicker in some places than others, but that is more to blame on my application than anything else. You could layer it over an opaque white, but I like the slight translucency of the white base.

This was 1 coat of XOXO over Sweet Talk. Man, this polish is gorgeous. It would be my pick of the two polishes and I was really expecting to love Sweet Talk more. Wait until you see this one over a dark base!

This is one coat of XOXO over two coats on Black Plum. Ugh, this is sickeningly gorgeous!

Rainbow Honey- The Yokai Collection

I have been drooling over polishes from indie seller Rainbow Honey for months now, so when I was given the opportunity to review the newest collection I jumped at the chance. The three new polishes, part of the Yokai collection, are limited edition and a unique twist on a traditional Halloween collection. According to the infallible and omnipotent Wikipedia "Yokai are a class of supernatural monsters from Japanese folklore". Pretty cool idea for a collection right? These polishes had a lot to live up to in my mind, and they definitely did not disappoint. Take a look!

I think these polishes and my two Chanels are the only ones that have come in boxes. Really awesome, professional packaging. I'm impressed!

Rainbow Honey Kawako

Kawako- "The mischievous river child". This polish is a shimmery navy base with silver glass-like flecks and iridescent flakies. Because of the opacity of the base the flakes don't show up much, but do give a little flash every now and then. This polish is on the thicker side and it helps to let the first coat dry a little bit before applying the second.  I've tried a lot of dark blue based polishes with silver glitter over the years and this is by far my favorite. It manages to to both fresh and unique.

Kitsune- "The magical white fox". This polish is a sandy tan base with gold shimmer and red, holographic, and gold glitter with smaller specks of glitter that look black in the picture above. Whew, this one was hard to describe. Like Kawako this polish runs on the thick side. However, it is one the coolest, most unique polishes I have.

Oni- "The malevolent, wild demon". This polish is a blackened base chock full of tiny irregularly-shaped gold and purple glitter flakes. The glitter does look predominantly gold, but for some reason my camera refused to pick up the purple. This one had the best formula of the three and was completely smooth- not thick or lumpy at all. It's is absolutely stunning and has a lot of depth and dimension even in the shade.

The collection will be released at rainbowhoney.com on October 13th at 12:01 AM EST. The polishes sell for $10 (a great price for a bottle of completely unique polish. You won't find any dupes for these!) and remember, the collection is limited edition. The biggest test when reviewing something that was sent to you is asking yourself, "Would I have bought this if it hadn't been sent to me?" And for me, and this collection, the answer is a resounding YES. I absolutely love the collection. I like the explosion of indie polish companies and their many unique products, but I do get tired of seeing endless collections of multicolored glitter in a clear base. These polishes are unique and opaque in 2 coats.
