Summery Neon Nails With Claire's Paradise

I MEANT to write this post last night. But I ended up hanging out with a couple of friends (I love those girls so much!) and drinking a whole bottle of wine. By myself. Haha. I really needed that girl night. It's nice to be around girls who love you and AREN'T trying to sabotage you. And that is a reference to someone at my job. I like where I work, like my job, like most of the people, and just generally enjoy it. There is always that one person though. I KNOW I'm a good person and try to see the best in people, but sometimes those people try their hardest to prove you wrong. It's gone as far as this one person stealing money from me blatantly and without apology (We get a small amount of commission. It's a bit of a long explanation but it did happen.). I may make mistakes, but I know my character isn't bad. To deliberately sabotage someone so you can profit even the tiniest bit is disgusting. My only recourse is to be the better person (I know that I am). I'm not a child and am not going to play that game. I'm a strong believer that if you profit off bad deeds long enough it will eventually catch up with you without any action from the people you're harming. Maybe it's just karma?

Anyway, I stopped in to Claire's to buy the Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop dupe (also oh-so-originally named Candy Shop) and came out with it and three neon polishes. This one, Paradise, is my favorite. It is a neon coral with a strong blue flash. It's a bit sheer and I think I may have ended up woth 4 or 5 coats. Next time I'll layer it over white or nude polish so I don't have to use so many coats. But for using that many coats I really didn't have any issues with it mucking up or taking forever to dry. Do you need this polish? YES! I love it so much. It was $5 but Claire's polishes seem like they're perpetually buy one, get one half off.

Claire's Paradise
It's a little more pink and less orange in person, but still coral.

My little brother (Haha, he's 6'4") and his best friend since baby-hood just graduated from college and I'm so proud of them. They both got degrees in engineering. I want to share the picture with you guys of them as babies and then them in their cap and gowns. I can't believe how fast time flies! My brother is the tall one with red hair. I love these guys so much!

  2. I NEeeeeeEEEeeed Paradise! And, OMFG GF, you would not believe some of the stories I have from working in cosmetic sales. Our store had metrics you had to meet (I'm sure you have them too) so your goal for each transaction would be something like at least 3 items per transaction, at least $75 per transaction, and at least $150 per hour for example. I had "friends" that I worked with that would not want to ruin their #'s, so if they had a customer who only wanted that one tiny lipgloss, they'd CHANGE the sale to my (Or other people's) transaction and only enter the fabulous, large sales under their own names. I pointed it out to management but I know they would still do it and I also believe in karma, so I tried to just let it roll off. It told me a lot about their character though, and I knew I did not want to be "friends" outside of work. People are amazingly selfish sometimes! Other things would happen too like I'd sit with a client for over an hour, showing them EVERYTHING and they'd say something like, "Ok, I'm going to be back in a few minutes....I have to go get my wallet, etc etc". Then I'd get busy with another client and client A would walk back in. Someone else would ring her up, knowing full well that they didn't help them and then say, "OMG, I FORGOT to ring her under you!". Ya. If she bought one thing you wouldn't have forgotten, would ya? ha...I could go on forever!!!

Lastly, How cute are your baby bro and his friend? I love it! Congrats to the 2 smarty pants!

    1. You DO need Paradise! Do you have a Claire's anywhere near you?

Yeah, the goals are fun. I don't think my store is nearly as rigorous as that. As long as you meet your monthly goal and your gift with purchase goals, you're fine. I have always hear horror stories about all the backstabbing that goes on in cosmetic sales, but I was naive and didn't think it would happen to me. But it did! You describe the situations perfectly. I don't know why people would want to create that environment for themselves...

Thank you, I'm so proud of those boys!

  3. Congrats to your brother and his friend! What a great contrast pic- the two of them as little tykes, then the two of them as adults graduating from college. :)

I love Lippmann dupes. I have Revlon Facets of Fuchsia, which is a dupe for Bad Romance.

And I picked up Maybelline Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald. *cough, enabler, cough* :)

    1. I love those two pictures side-by-side. My brother's friend in the picture photoshopped it and exchanged the faces by putting the babies on the adult bodies and vice-versa. It was hilarious.

I need to get Facets of Fuchsia! I'm not sure why I don't have it already. I might actually and just not remember, haha.

How do you like Edgy Emerald? I love it as a base for teal shadows.

    2. I only swatched EE, but I like the color so far. I have some photo shoots coming up and I want to test it out in an emerald smokey eye look. I am already dreaming of using it with MAC Teal pigment and Jealousy Wakes.

    3. Oooh, that sounds super pretty! I have Jealousy Wakes. I'll have to try them together.

  4. Your bro is handsome!

I had a manager years ago who was the same way...it's hard to go to work knowing you have to deal with someone like that. I used to steal off to the bathroom some days and cry. If you love your job though, it's worth it. People go through retail so fast; the girl who's bothering you will probably be gone soon.

    1. Aw, thank you Jen. He FINALLY outgrew his awkward stage, haha.

I hate having to dread going in to work some days. I've heard "Just don't let it bother you" so many times but I guess that just isn't the way I work. I do like the job itself, and you're right; retail does have a high turnover. So here's hoping!

  5. Some people are just really mean-spirited. It sucks, but it's true. Glad you're liking the job, though. I love this colour on you! It's bright without being too neon. And $5 is awesome.

    1. Well, poo on them. They must lead sad lives!

Thank you! I love the color. I wish you could get awesome stuff this cheap where you are, in the land of overpriced-ness! I'm so cheap; I would have like NO makeup if I lived there.

  6. Congrats to your brother! I am loving those neon polishes! I wonder about the formulation of Claire's polishes, are they pretty decent?

  7. That is one amazing polish! Claire's over here never gets any of these good colours :( I'm sorry to hear about the horrible jerk at your job, I hope it's better by now!
