Dupe Alert! Zoya Wednesday and Sinful Colors Greek Isles

Did anyone else buy any polishes during Zoya's Earth Day sale? I certainly did. I haven't missed it in 3 years. And when I say I bought polishes, I mean that I picked them and someone else paid. Haha. Anyway, Zoya Wednesday was one that I was wanting the most, besides Zuza. But it turns out I already had a dupe for it- Sinful Colors Greek Isles from their spring collection called Cast Away. Let's see if you guys think they're dupes.

They look close in the bottles, but not really exact right? Let's see the swatches.

So can you tell which color is on which finger? I asked my mother and she got it completely wrong. She picked two fingers she thought were the same color and it was really one of each. So which is which? Don't cheat and keep scrolling down!

To keep you from cheating here is a picture of my pug looking extra cute.

From left- Sinful Greek Isles, Zoya Wednesday, Sinful Greek Isles, Zoya Wednesday
Did anyone guess this? It's hard to tell but Zoya Wednesday is a tad bit lighter and greener. In person no one would be able to tell they were two different polishes. They both applied about the same too. Each took 2 coats and were smooth and creamy. I have to give the slight edge to Zoya but that may just be me trying to justify buying it when I already had the Sinful.

Witht the macros you can see the differences a little better. Really, they are so close you don't need both. I WOULD recommend you get the Sinful over the Zoya as it retails for $1.99 and the Zoya is $8, but the Sinful may be a little harder to find as it was part of a limited edition collection for Spring. Hopefully they make it permanent! And you never know, it might be released again under a different name. Sinful loves doing that.

So do you have either of these? Have you found any dupes lately?

NOTD- Lime Lights of Olympia

So here she (he? it?) is. The promised first "real" post! Nail polish is my first and main love so it's fitting that this is my first post back.  I bought Sally Hansen Lime Lights, a sheer shimmery green, in a two pack from Dollar Tree so it basically cost me 50 cents. It look horrendous by itself, but looks awesome layered. Don't worry, I haz proofs.

And here are my disclaimers (Maribeth I know you love these, haha)- please excuse my gross cuticles as I basically didn't give a crap about my nails for several months, the sloppy application job as I don't have my clean up brush, the bad quality pictures as I'm using an unfamiliar camera, and anything else your eyes may deem offensive. Okay, now that we are sufficiently disclaimed, we may proceed.

This is one coat of Sally Hansen Lime Lights over 2 coats of Sinful Olympia.

Whew, that wasn't so hard. Hope to see you guys again soon!

Perhaps My Favorite Mani Ever- Sinful's Mint Apple under Hidden Treasure

Damn, I just realized I passed my 100 post milestone like a week ago!  I was anticipating it and counting it every day since about post 85, but then of course I completely forgot about it.  Not like post 100 is any more special than any other post, but for some reason I feel accomplished making it past 100, haha.

I'm still very behind in editing pictures and I'm so busy it doesn't seem like I'm going to catch up any time soon.  When you're busy it always feels like there will some how be a magic time when you'll be able to catch up on everything you need to do.  You tell yourself, "I can't wait until I can get a little break and then I'll be back on track."  Yeah, it doesn't work like that for me.  I get a little break and I take a nap and forget about all the little things I wanted to do.  I guess I'm destined to be playing catch-up the rest of my life!

Today I'm posting a mani I did like 2 months ago that I never got around to posting (while my nails were long! *SOB*).  It was inspired by this mani by my friend Maribeth at Obsessive Cosmetic Hoarders Unite!

I don't have the OPI she used, but I've been wanting to use Sinful's Mint Apple again and this was a good opportunity.  I love how this looks so much. I rarely repeat manis, but I have to with this one. This is either 2 or 3 coats (Sorry, I forgot to write down how many!) of Sinful's Mint Apple with a coat of Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure on top.

I love this.  It reminds me of a sunset over a tropical ocean.

Shimmery Drugstore Layering Polishes for less than $2

Nowadays there are tons of glitter layering polishes at the drugstore.  I can think of 3 from Wet n Wild's 99 cent polish line alone.  Finding a nice shimmery layering polish is a bit trickier because most of the time they just look like boring sheers in the bottle.  But man, oh man, when you layer them over a dark polish they really will pop.  It takes some experimenting to find a sheer polish that is sheer enough to layer well without being streaky and ugly.  Here are a few from the drugstore that I've found.  To further challenge myself, I only used polishes that were $2 and under!

All of these are layered over 1 coat of Wet n Wild's Black Creme.  Seriously, this is the only black polish you will ever need- it's cheap, and it's opaque in one coat.

Sorry these are a bit messy.  I decided I wasn't in the mood for swatching AFTER I had already started.  And of course I was too stubborn to stop and too lazy to do clean up on my nails.  Also I'm too stubborn to do the swatches over again, haha.

This is one coat of Busted.  It has a subtle duochrome look to it but I wasn't able to capture it. :-/

Sinful Colors- Glass Pink

This is one coat.  It's almost too opaque to use for layering, but it still looks pretty cool.

   Pure Ice- Heart Breaker
Taken inside with the flash
This is 3 coats, but it still looks pretty awesome with two and even one.  This one is a must own- it's a duochrome ranging in color from bright emerald green to a medium blue.  I have 5 pictures of this just to show you its range.

You can see both the blue and the green on the nail here.

NYC- Love Letters

Here is one coat.

This one is my favorite.  It looks like a boring pink sheer in the bottle but it is actually a glass-fleck duochrome changing from pink to teal.  I can't remember where I first heard about the awesome powers of this polish, but whoever discovered it- thank you!
