Nail Layering with Sally Hansen and NARS

I REALLY need to get better about the timing of my posts- I took these pictures last fall. I guess that would be fine, but the two Sally Hansen polishes I used were limited edition and no longer available. I suppose a few may be floating around on eBay if you get desperate enough.

I LOVE layering. It's rare these days for me to wear just one polish by itself. Some times the layering experiments are huge fails and some times they turn out awesome. This was one of the awesome times. I layered Sally Hansen All Aglow, a purple foil-y polish, over NARS Midnight Express, a dark blue jelly, and slapped Sally Hansen Crystal Beading, a sheer multichrome that flashes from teal to blue to purple to pink, over the top. My pictures didn't manage to capture the best duochrome actions, but it was fabulous. Trust me.

Hits Mari Moon Unique Nail Polish Set (Multi-chrome Goodness!)

Heeeey guys! This post has been requested by a few people, so I thought I might as well oblige. Spoiler- These polishes are freakin' gorgeous and everyone needs to own them. You WILL want them when you see 'em. Also, I will not be held responsible for any bills not paid because you bought these instead. ;-D So now that I got that out of the way early, let's get right to it.

I bought the Hits Mari Moon Unique set from Llarowe when they had an awesome coupon code. But seriously, I would have bought them at full price. Hits is a sub-brand of Brazilian polish makers Speciallità (here is a catalog of all their polishes); a brand most of the world wouldn't have had access to before online retailers popped up and started selling it. I'm so grateful they did! (EDIT: Apparently other countries can order from the Speciallità website. I put together a cart, but shipping was going to be around $28. Ouch.) The polishes in the Unique set are also sold separately. The is another set named Modern that I plan to pick up soon.

I used about 3 coats for each polish to be opaque on it's own. The bottles are small (6 ml) so I would probably layer them to not use them as quickly. This is extremely pic heavy post (25 pictures!) so I'm sorry if it takes forever to load!

Nubar Indigo Illusion- A Hipster Duochrome

I keep promising myself I'm going to post more... and then I don't. Haha. I'm not buying as much makeup as I used to, which is good, but also means less things to swatch. Or at least that's my excuse. I still buy a crapton (an official quantifiable measurement) of nail polish though. This one just jumped into my top favorite polishes of all time.

I've always heard good things about Nubar's duochromes, which are the hipsters of the polish world (they had duochromes before they were popular), but never had bought any myself. And actually this is my first Nubar period. I think it has sparked a new addiction. Nubar's Indigo Illusion is one of those polishes every nail addict needs to own. It's one of the "I'm going to crash my car because I can't stop staring at my nails" polishes. The color is hard to describe. It has a dusty turquoise base with tons of shimmer that changes from pinkish purple to coppery red to bright green.

Don't just take my word for it's awesomeness; have a look! This is 2 or 3 coats (I forget!) with base and top coat.

Purple Color Morphing Franken- So Awesome!

This post is pretty pic heavy (9 pictures!) for a post about one nail polish. Like I mentioned yesterday I bought some color morphing powders from More Nail Polish and they are fabulous! I know people always say this, but I can't stop staring at my nails. I even make my boyfriend look at them several times a day. "LOOK," I say, waving my fingers in his face. "Look at all the colors it changes to!"

Enough talk, MOAR PEEKSHURS! Make sure you make it the end, I saved the best for last!

This is pretty, but it's by far the least impressive picture.

Oh, and here is what I used, just in case anyone is curious. I used a 5 ml bottle I bought from TKB Trading. This is actually 2 polishes. A purple base and a topcoat. They both have the color morphing powder in them. The purple polish is 2/3 Milani Totally Cool, 1/3 Wet n Wild Eggplant Frost and 3 to 4 tiny scoops of red to green color morphing powder. If I had to do it again I would use some clear polish instead of so much of Totally Cool. The fairly opaque base ate up the color morphing powder and the effect wasn't as strong. So I had to use a top coat which was just 1 or 2 scoops of the same powder in TKB's Glamour Base (a clear polish for suspending glitter/larger pigments).

Chanel Peridot Swatches

This post is going to be short on words and looooong on pictures. I recently bought my first Chanel polish- Peridot. $25 is an obscene amount of money to spend on nail polish, but I don't regret it. It's a gorgeous color and completely unlike anything I have. I know everyone has seen a million pictures of this by now, but oh well. After this you'll only have seen a million and ten.
